IEA Workshop „Energy Efficient Communities – technological strategies and their implementation

IEA Workshop „Energy Efficient Communities – technological strategies and their implementation“

The further improvement of buildings in regard to energy efficiency and energy production also leads to energy optimization of whole communities. Technical solutions are important, but the interests of communities have to be targeted within a holistic approach. Therefore the consideration of urban planning, climate policy and economic aspects can be an essential key to success. Appropriate interaction of technological options for buildings and energy supply with community aspects as well as effective options for implementation in smart cities are big challenges in future.

At this workshop the state-of-the-art of research on energy efficient communities will be highlighted, energy strategies for communities, tools for urban planning and key issues for successful implementation will be presented. The aim of the workshop is to raise and discuss future perspectives of “energy efficient communities” from technological, planning and political view with international experts.
